The Huntresses follows four women from Valais who hunt in the mountains, balancing this demanding pursuit with their busy daily lives—studies, work, relationships, and domestic responsibilities. Through long hikes, scouting trips, and shooting practice, they forge a deeply sensory and intimate bond with the landscape. In a world still overwhelmingly shaped by men, they must confront ingrained sexism while asserting their place. The film traces their pursuit of autonomy and freedom—one that fully unfolds high above the villages, on the mountain.

Directors’ biographies

Born 1994 in Geneva, Amélie Bargetzi holds a Bachelor degree in Photography and Video from HEAD-Genève. In 2020, she obtained a Master in Fine Arts from Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK). Through the medium of video, she explores ecological problems and the relationship to our own memory. Her previous works Presque comme une ventouse (2019) and Mon-Idée (2016) were exhibited respectively at the Werkschau 2019 at Museum Haus Konstruktiv Zurich and at the Kunsthalle Mulhouse 2021.

Born in 1993 in Yverdon-les-Bains, Christelle Jornod now lives and works in Cologne, Germany. She obtained her Swiss Federal Certificate of Competence in photography in 2014 and her Bachelor of Fine Arts from HEAD-Genève in 2017. She then studied experimental film at the KHM (Kunsthochschule für Medien) in Cologne. In October 2021, she began a Doctorate in artistic research at the Bauhaus University in Weimar on the question of gender in rural practices, with an experimental filmic approach. She has exhibited her work in various renowned art centers, such as Galerie Air de Paris and the Centre de la Photographie Genève (CPG).
