director’s biography 

Born in 1995 in Dakar (Senegal). She began her studies at Sup Imax Dakar (Institut Supérieur des Arts et Métiers du Numérique) in 2017. After a year of study of international business management in China and a semester of political science at the University of Montreal, she completes her Bachelor’s degree in filmmaking at the HEAD of Geneva (Haute école d’art et de design) in 2020. She finished her Master’s degree in screenwriting at ECAL/HEAD in 2022.

A group high school students in a theater elective find themselves with a substitute teacher for a month. As they recite Shakespeare while maintaining their distance, the teacher abruptly interrupts the rehearsal. In the midst of an age where people often advance masked, with eyes either too elevated or heads too lowered, the question of intimacy becomes prominent for them.

DIRECTOR’s BIOGRAPHY

Born in Antibes, Julien Gaspar-Oliveri trained as an actor at the Conservatoire National Supérieur d’Art Dramatique in Paris. His theatre credits include work with Dominique Czapski, Didier Bezace and Jean Bellorini. He has directed Chekhov and several plays by Jean-Luc Lagarce at the Théâtre Antibéa, where he is an associate artist. He made his film debut with ‘Loin de Benjamin’, his first short film. He then directed ‘Passe’, with Laure Calamy, followed by ‘Villeperdue’, a medium-length film starring Carole Franck, Lucie Debay and Benjamin Siksou. The film was well received by critics and released in cinemas. It won the Jury Prize and the Audience Prize at the Namur Film Festival. In ‘L’Âge Tendre’, he portrays a lost teenager, played by Noée Abita. He then set about making a documentary about the 2020 municipal elections. Currently being edited, the film traces the campaign of the ecologist candidate for mayor of Paris. Keen to try new things, Julien then adapted a short film for a France 2 series on new heroines, with Pauline Lorillard in the title role. He also teaches theatre and film at the Cours Florent. Continuing his exploration of adolescence and the emotional catalyst that is acting, he is currently developing a series project on the theatre Bac. He is currently writing his first feature film, on the subject of incest. Co-written with Claudia Bottino, her collaborator on the writing of ‘L’Âge tendre’, the project has won the CNC’s writing grant.

As the conversation grows tense, one of the passengers approaches her and expresses annoyance that she’s speaking very loudly. She faces two worlds that do not understand her.

Born in Morges (Switzerland) in 1977, Nadège de Benoit-Luthy studied cinema at ÉCAL – École Cantonale d’Art de Lausanne, from which she graduated in 2003. Her diploma film, Petit(s) cadaver(s) personnel(s), was selected at the Locarno festival in 2003 and at the Solothurn Film Festival in 2004. She then directed Ménagerie intérieure (2007) and Orages d’été (2014), both co-produced between France and Switzerland. Selected in particular in Angers, at the Tout Écran Festival in Geneva or in Amiens, Ménagerie intérieure, portrait of a young twenty-something who must find her place and assert herself, receives the “Cinema e Gioventù” Prize for best Swiss short film at Locarno in 2007. Orages d’été, a summer short examining the disintegration of a couple, had its world premiere at the Porny Days Film Kunst Festival in Zurich, then was shown notably at the Locarno, Bilbao and Lille festivals and received the Best Screenplay Prize at FIKE – Festival Internacional de Curtas Metragens de Évora.

Élise started out as a press attaché for Cinémas Action before becoming a director. Her first two films were documentaries: one on the Cinémas Action and the other on Roger Diamantis, founder of the Saint André des Arts: Seuls sont les indomptés, l’aventure des cinémas Action (2003) and Roger Diamantis ou la vraie vie (2005). Her first feature, Belleville Tokyo (2011), was acclaimed by audiences and critics alike, as was Strange Birds (2016), presented at the Berlinale Forum in 2017. For Sidonie in Japan, she benefited from the French Institute’s Louis Lumière grant, which enabled her to reside in Kyoto in 2017.

When Milene’s relatives return from their holidays, they want to manage her life. But Milene’s life gets out of hand. Little by little, Milene gets closer to Antonino Mata. Started working as a production designer in the films of Teresa Villaverde, Tom Tykwer, Margarida Gil and Manuel Mozos (among others), then as a screenwriter for Joaquim Pinto, Paulo Rocha and José Alvaro de Morais.

Her films as a director have participated in the competitions of festivals such as Berlin, Locarno, Belfast, Vienna, Roma, Milan, Montpelier, Brussels, Dublin, Barcelona, ​​Huelva, Athens, Copenhagen, Kiev, Calcutá, Bombay, São Paulo, Buenos Aires , San Francisco, Miami, IndieLisboa, Vila do Conde, Santa Maria da Feira, Festroia, etc.

Her latest feature film received national (Quartz for best screenplay) and international awards, and was distributed theatrically in five countries and released on DVD in Switzerland and France.
